Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness (Air Armament) was established under the name of Resident Technical Office in Pune on 05 Dec 1977.The main responsibility of Regional Director / Chief Resident Engineer as Head of Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness / Resident Technical Office, as per DDMAS guidelines, is to ensure airworthiness of air armaments by performing design audit and accord the following
1) Design clearance of Indigenously Developed Air Armament stores
Viz. Aircraft Bombs, Power Cartridges & Fuzes etc.
2) Clearances for flight-testing of Imported Stores for performance evaluation.
3) Life Extension of existing Indigenous and Imported air armament stores.
4) Type Certification & lifing of air armaments.
